Port Elizabeth CBD
If only our CBD had been potected against harmful projects and demolitions, we'd have a truly special town square and surroundings. But much of what contributed to making PE's town square special was removed - numerous old buildings that held the square with their human scale, the mayor's garden etc. It really is a terrible shame.
And I just loathe the fly-over highway. Yes, it is convinient, but at what cost? It has cast a dark shadow over the CBD, seperating it from the harbour, not to mention fostering a generally unsafe feeling. There are so many issue I could raise in regard to the problems our CBD faces but I'll just post some pictures that focus on the positive aspects our CBD/Town Square retains.
*These photo's were taken late on a Sunday hence the place looks a little deserted.
